Anoma Records boss Ohm Hourani offers up new single 'Barbara' via We R The Aliens, backed with a remix from Ricardo Villalobos and Javasoul. The We R The Aliens imprint was launched by Jakob Seidensticker, MELINA, Boronas and Snad back in 2019 and over the past few years has unveiled material from the label founders themselves, Katie Drover, Smallville's Smallpeople, Markus Sommer and Chktle among others. Here though, the label welcomes Ohm Hourani onto the imprint, the Montreal, Canada based artist known for his jazz-tinged dance floor workouts on his own Anoma label, as well as Sammy Dee's much loved Ultrastretch, PlayedBy and many more. The original mix of 'Barbara' leads, laid out across fifteen minutes and embracing Hourani's signature playful sound courtesy of a jazzy bass groove, bumpy organic drums, and intricately chopped and processed soulinfused vocal lines. On the flip side, Ricardo Villalobos joins forces with (Amir) Javasoul to rework 'Barbara', as one would expect from the two maestros of minimalistic music the pair offer up a raw and reduced twist on the original, bringing crisp, punchy percussion to the forefront while sporadic fragments of the original groove and vocal lines ebb and flow throughout.
