As the Earth shimmies back above the surface of its own obscurity, we're proud to present a couple of tracks conjured up from the depths of Italy's semi-mythical cosmic / balearic underworld: enter Mushrooms Project.
Introducing Sun Up / Sun Down, a vertiginuous waltz through Mushrooms Project's conception of the moments that happen either side of night, and boy is it a treat ;)
Sun Up: halcyonic pads floating atop a rolling technoid 303 malfunction, a lurking, uncanny reminder that all is not as it seems. A robotic sunrise, an ode to the machines and hardware of electronic antiquity, the meeting place between sunset and the strip. A mesmeric free ride through the halls of Ibiza past, pulsing and palpitating in ferocious, euphoric throes - this is Sun Up, and its just the beginning. Square-shaped balearic craftsmanship at its finest.
Sun Down: another signature slow-burner from the Mushrooms men, creeping and inching its way forward to the shoreline with vociferous percussions, Italian flair, single note arps b-lines and the discombobulation of ethereal electronics coming together in terrific, head-spinning brilliance. Marimba riffing reminiscent of old Mushrooms balearic fare, repurposed into an acid-driven mutant cosmic eulogy - a balearic dysmorphia, a prosthetic-armed cowboy atop a nuclear-powered steed, fox-trotting through the apocalyptic island setting of post-2021 dystopia. The end of the night, the first moments of tomorrow. Sunset for only the most far-removed of dancefloors.
