Eugene Pascal is a producer, musician, recordist, engineer, label boss at Merriware and part time landscaper/carpenter out of Melbourne. His stellar four track "Neutral Density" flits between high impact club work, lofty, cascading escapades and bounding broken beats, taking inspiration from free and prog jazz alongside purer, functional electronic artists his creations are galvanized through process based experimentation and musicality.
Stemming from various approaches, all pieces were written between 2018 and 2020 and mixed down to two track stereo on a 1993 Soundtracs Sequel 2 console. "Neutral Density" and "The Prophecy" were created for Eugene's last solo live set for the now defunct Lounge, "Six Arps, Thanks" is an excursion in pattern overlay and "Caveman Algorythms" collaboration with Sam Brickel and Louis Marlo harnesses a modular system for the main lead and kick drums (shouts to the jomox modbase09) and filled in with highlights and textural details.
Photography also by Eugene, this image was taken at Tamboon Inlet, Croajingalong National Park in 2018.
