As Millenium Cowboy, Adelaide-based musician Harriet Fraser-Barbour (Workhorse / Fair Maiden / Wireheads / Ripple Effect Band / Introduction!) takes comfort within her bedroom during a worldwide lockdown to create the 5 track EP "MC-MOOD". In a period of just 5 days (with each song written and recorded in a single, 24 hour period) the meditative engine of Millenium Cowboy's textural synth and hazy auto-tuned vocals becomes a means for processing the events, turning inwards and searching for calm.
Millenium Cowboy (a reference to Madonna's glittery millennium persona and musically inspired by The Space Lady, Enya and Julee Cruise) came to be back in 2018, with reworkings of favourite songs, ranging from country ballads to pop hits.
On MC-MOOD, we are treated with a stunning time-capsule of original music. On album highlight, "Unthinking" we meditate alongside the artist on a single thought, whilst on B-Side tracks "Wise" and "Wilson Tanner" we sense the artist dreaming of the outside world through long, explorative paragraphs on a more improvisational journey.
Risograph artwork contributed by Tyrone Ormsby. Mastering by Nitzan Hoffman in Berlin. Also available on limited edition baby blue cassette.
