The Berlin-based artist is well known for tasty cuts under his moniker Toby Dreher on Rotary Cocktail, Compute, and Resopal - and as an oracle for synthesizer devotees as the ’Modular-Horst’ at Berlin’s famed Just Music instrument shop. The Kernel Existence project reveals a darker side of Toby’s warped sonic universe, while showcasing his considerable modular mastery. ’Untenrum’ is the German word for ’down below’, and much as that title predicts, the release proceeds with subsonic kicks and deep low end embedded in delightfully abstract and twisted sequences.
