Dom IV is sitting on a shit ton of midi controlled goodness that crossing genre and time and we've finally delved in and selected a gem for the first in a 7" series called Cosmic Shots! This gem has been something we have wanted to release since the start of CPG. It has all the usual fruity hallmarks of full bodied Cosmic Pint Glass release, lovely instrument selection, funky drums and just generally super great production, from Dom IV. But this time we seem to be in the pop music genre? Nothing Happens which the original from 2011 is on side B. It has a beautiful, slightly haunting melancholy happiness. The sleigh bells give a feeling of holidays and vibraphone somehow brings back thoughts of watching movies.. maybe Home Alone or Planes Trains and Automobiles... and then a dog bark near the end. I'm instantly transported to those rare twilight memories of being trapped at home and surrounded by peace with nothing to do. In a weird way I almost feel like the memories have come from those movies. The music is creating a slight da jar vue of things that haddent happen. It's weird but also so beautiful. Nothing Happened, on side A, is a upbeat quirky version with pop influences that cross decades, from Italo disco to reggae to modern dance music, Dom IV tweaks the production values up and produces a slightly unhinged happyness (Listen to those few middle bars to see what we mean). This is obviously a product of having that comfortable Nothing to do feeling for abit too long. Fun if you can let it be. This is Dom IV's second release for CPG, The first being a 13 and a half minute digital only track called Dunes. He has also kept the graphics succinct by using Liam Buckleys artistry skills for both releases. This time each physical record has a hand painted art piece, so nothing can continue happening after you own both art and music together.
