A couple of years ago, Super Disco Edits released the debut single from Buddy Hank & The Shine Band, East Orange New Jersey-based band who were briefly active in the early 1980s. Here they go one step further, delivering a first full-length lp of tracks recorded way back in 1981 that lay dusty in Mardy Hankersons basement. Immaculately mastered from the original studio tapes, "Dust To Diamonds" is as good a boogie-era album as you're likely to hear. Rich in slap bass, soulful vocals, good-time grooves, jazz-funk flourishes and colourful synthesizer lines, the eight tracks flit between sugary warmth and effervescent dancefloor heat. In other words, this is genuine buried treasure for DJs who take disco and boogie seriously.
