About this release:
"Sometimes you hit on a beautiful theme.
Somehow you recognise a good idea in advance and know how to express it. And this is precisely what I did not want to do." (Clemens Wenger)
In Physics of Beauty, Clemens Wenger's second album, which he produced, composed and performed solo, he goes straight for the involuntary and improbable, walking backwards, taking up another perspective, abandoning what's logical. The unimaginable is what turns out right: an inadvertent quality that stands alone.
Clemens Wenger selected, edited and concocted his album from countless improvisations on his private, felt-prepared uprigt piano. He followed it up with painstaking sound design on the computer, precisely defining close or wide spaces, dark or light tonalities, transforming acoustic sounds into digital sound spheres – all of it carrying the minimalist means of the album through many layers, from ambient techno, jazz piano, minimal music to cinematic soundscapes.
Physics of Beauty is published as a digital release and has an added digital home of its own on www.physicsofbeauty.art, a web page, laboratory in character, with an interactive interface: music that you can explore in gamification, visualised in geometric lines, bars, circles, every track a living visual organism spread across the whole page, an organism that we can interact with using a mouse and which reacts to the live input of every single visitor.
