Powered by vocalist Kamilah Apong and bassist Jamie Kidd, Tush is a Toronto duo that has rapidly gained a reputation worldwide and recently listed by NOW Magazine as “ones to watch”. More grit than glam, their music searches for the rawness, vulnerability, and intimacy of the dancefloor. Produced by Tush, their newest single ‘Leh We Guh’ is a hybrid of jazz, broken-beat, and tropical rhythms.
"Leh We Guh fuses together various cultural elements of my background, including soca rhythms." says Kamllah, "My father often played Ahmad Jamal's ‘Poinciana’ as a child, right after dancing to copious amounts of soca and calypso records." So it is fitting that the song includes an excerpt from ‘Poinciana’, performed by Tush’s keyboardist Alexa Belgrave during their last pre-COVID live show in March. "This piece ties together so many pivotal moments for me musically and culturally.”
