Italian groove guru LOVA lands on Balearic Ensemble with his debut three-tracker on the label, a saunter through the imaginings of his own kismetic soundscape: this is "Colours Of The Mind", real morning-after music to replenish the soul.
First up is "Dharma Karma", a signature slow-burner from the Italian producer. It's awash with shimmering guitars, nostalgic vocal yearnings and synths that cataract and cascade. In LOVA's own words, this is an invitation to decide the colours of our life and our day-by-day groove and frequencies expressed by low-lying cadences, quivering shakers and percussive miscellanea.
Second track "Elusive Realities" moves into deeper colours, cinematic textures and mid-tempo territory. Asymmetrical chord changes lend a strange, sullen atmosphere, where the gap between knowing and feeling reaches an unfamiliar apex: this is a lofty, brooding track for spiritual replenishment and balearic sundown.
Finally there's the "Alternate Sundown" edit of Elusive Realities, a deep-set, blissed-out reimagining of the original. Taking the cinematic mantra a step further, LOVA charts far-out territories in coruscating keys and pulses of arpeggio. A reminder that, in a world where we lose time and energy being worried about tomorrow, often for nothing, the imagination is for dreaming. A soothing serenade to round out LOVA's balearic/cinematic sonics: this is "Colours Of The Mind" on Balearic Ensemble.
