A long overdue inclusion in the Too Slow to Disco series, "Music in Me" by Stephen Encinas is the first song we've featured from a Trinidad artist. Encinas had local hits with "Rock-a-bye baby love" and "Music in me" while still in his early twenties. At the end of the 1970s, "Rock-a-bye baby love" gained lots of airplay and a further single followed, the now legendary "Disco Illusion". The track gained an enthusiastic reissue when Brandon Hocura of Invisible City Editions found copies of it in a warehouse. Re-releasing a track is always a detective job. So, DJ Supermarkt was able to locate Stephen, and they agreed to finally re-release the super rare track. Of course the masters were long lost, and even Stephen lacked a good quality 7". Cue a rare story of social media leading to a positive heart-warming outcome: Hamburgs Johnny Fliegenpilz, messaged us that he had a decent copy. Finally this killer track could be transferred from the vinyl to a new master by Marco from Analogcut Studio. What a trip!
