Eluize composed EMDR as part of a collaboration with XLR8R and Ableton. It began with a poem she penned about the PTSD treatment in 2019, which the artist went on to translate into a track. On the topic Eluize says, The experience was so intense and perspective-changing, I wanted to make something that finished releasing the emotion wrapped up in the process. EMDR is rhythmic; it took me down through the dark stuff, but then suddenly the fear and anxiety lifted and my outlook brightened It was incredible. With this in mind, I wanted the track to be hypnotic and gritty, but with light in it, too.
Until now the track has only been available via XLR8R+s subscription service, but we've been cleared to release a newly mastered version to all platforms, accompanied by the Tempo Comodo Modifica, a slowed down, sleazed up version designed for the club night by the same name held at Sydney's 77.
The full production session for EMDR is downloadable via the Ableton website, for those whod like to rework, remix or sample the track. Taking things multi-sensory, Italian video artists Riccardo Franco-Loiri (a.k.a. Akasha) and Davide Fauro (a.k.a. Misphit Circuitry) created an engrossing, dreamlike film cut to the original, that can be found online.
