In the summer of 2022, Nelson Brandt (aka Knowsum/Nepumuk) and Aron met. The first conversations took place - in a modern but rather unromantic fashion - via Direct Messages, though they found each other to be booked at the same festival shortly after. The two chatted pleasantly for a while and brokered a charming deal: "Hey, wanna play some drums for me?" - "Sure, do you want to do some vocals for me?". A few weeks later, 'Gratis Liebe' was born - a song which features an interesting contrast between the musical and lyrical themes. While the sound comes across as naive, bright and even a bit silly, Nelson's lyrics make observations on rather bitter social phenomena. A critique, which is delivered with a big smile.
On the instrumental side, Le Commandant Couche-Tôt and Tremendous Aron got introduced to each other by fellow producer Figub Brazlevič on whose Label Krekpek Records Aron released his debut EP. Aron immediately fell in love with the way Le Commandant combined influences from 60's and 70's music with current Hiphop production techniques, crucially though without the use of sampling, to create his own voice. This was exactly how he wanted his own future project to be like - even though Aron focused on somewhat different 60's artists to learn from. Both realising they shared that vision they teamed up and created the first sketches to the instrumental that would later become 'Gratis Liebe'. Aron's best musical friend Mattis Lehmann wrote the melody for the chorus-section et voilà!
