Dominic Dawson started his career as a DJ in Brighton, UK in the mid 80's. As a producer he has released numerous club hits on seminal house labels including Glitterbox, Strictly Rhythm and Guidance. Now based in Tokyo, he continues a prolific output, including a recent vinyl release on Eitetsu Takamiya's Flower Records imprint.
Here, Dominic unveils two versions of an original featuring vocalist Miotina. The Moto Version offers a solid hands-in-the-air mellow house chugger, with ethereal vocals building atmospheric intensity, joined by trumpet and picked guitar. The Woo Version features the incredible chops of former Roy Ayers sideman Philip Woo on keyboards. He provides a single-take synth bass-line guaranteed to provide dancefloor propellent. Miotina once again adds emotive vocals, while Mr Woo then ensures dance-motion with a bonkers manually-arpeggiated synth.
Getting support and plays from: Pete Herbert, Leo Mas, Mike Salta (Music for Dreams Radio), Timm Sure (Coyote / Is It Balearic?), Max Essa, Steve KIW (1BTN), Phil Roy (Potato Head Bali, NuNorthern Soul) and more...
Written, produced, arranged, mixed and mastered by Dominic Dawson.
Vocals performed by Miotina.
1. Dawning (Moto Version): Guitar & Trumpet by Samuel Bruce
2. Dawning (Woo Version): Bass & Keys by Philip Woo
In loving memory of Sakamoto Ryuichi Sensei
