Diasiva is the collective efforts of Monolog and Swarm Intelligence. What began as an impromptu, one-off live performance has evolved over a decade into a genre-defying, immersive and pummeling blend of high-intensity sonics.
The duo set out to trailblaze the space between industrial techno and high-octane drum and bass genres such as cross-breed and tech step, while deliberately eschewing any conformity with these frameworks. Here, the values and combined decades of experience from their solo endeavors are brought to bear. Distortion, chopped breaks and powerful basslines are wielded with absolute intent. Lulls are carved out of these intense barrages to offer respite in the form of lush atmospherics and intricate sound design.
Their approach comes from a deep friendship with as much common ground as there are boundaries to be challenged. Settled routines are disrupted and tried-and-tested formulas set aside as they push each other, forgoing ‘what is’ for ‘what could be’. In this way the project moves resolutely forward; footprints are revised and broken down into successes and failures for the next iteration.
The duo draw inspiration from scientific and technological breakthroughs, as well as societal challenges such as the rise of autocracy, corrupted power structures, oppression and the destruction of the planet. Resulting worries, fears and anger are channeled through thoughtful artistic practice.
Observing the world and all its inhabitants in its current broken state, they seek to convey hope for a better future.
