This album bares the fruits of Japanese composer Makoto Nomura's visit to a research retreat at Tokyo University's Institute of Industrial Science: Memu Earth Lab, during december 2020.
Together with Nick Luscombe and James Greer from MSCTY, the group explored the sonic landscape of Memu, through field recording and improvised musical events at numerous locations.
Upon returning to his home studio, Makoto then wrote and recorded a series of piano pieces, inspired by his memories of Memu.
Makoto Nomura, born Nagoya 1968, is one of Japan's most active composers.
His work has segued from music to visual art and performng art, seemlessly diversifyong between concert music, exhibtion work, field recording, theatre music and historically important research.
The CD is strictly limited edition of 300 copies Worldwide, and is MSCTY_EDN's third in a series of collectables.
