Gloomer is the debut EP from GETME!’s head honcho Alex Hislop (AKA LIXO).
Having put out releases by the likes of Slime, Becoming Real and Dam Mantle, the London label and party crew has built up it’s reputation as key underground tastemakers for interesting electronic music.
On LIXO’s debut EP he plays with house, techno and electronica, whilst keeping melody at the heart of things. His affinity for intimate dance music is laced with soft textures and moods that stretch into the listener, bringing a new kind of warmth to UK club music. From the soaring house-flecked synthscapes of “Not The Answer”to the ebbing and flowing of glitchy beats and low-key cinematics drifting throughout “Normal”; the EP results are refreshingly crisp
Now with his show on NTS, LIXO showcases a host of eclectic new gems from across the world; from Vancouver’s prolific tape label 1080p to Glasgow’s disco-indebted punks Golden Teacher and Brooklyn’s Empress Of, his NTS slot is a hotbed of weird and wonderful new sounds.
