Debut release from this talented new producer, recently signed to NICE UP! Records. Based in Israel, Jahrkon's sound is a perfect unity of old & new as he takes his pointers from the past and twists them into his vision of the now, or as some people are calling it "future dancehall". A passionate and deeply knowledgeable archivist of dancehall clash recordings, Jahrkon spends hours scouring classic and rare recordings for his unique samples and vocals, mining a completely new source of inspiration. Marrying them to his other love of jungle and electronica is the next logical step. HIs productions are tight, sometimes sparse, yet heavy, rich and always pack a punch for the dancefloor, drawing similarities to The Bug, Machinedrum and Toddla T.
For his first EP he has enlisted the help of Rubi Dan, veteran mic man and one of the UKs sharpest lyricists. "Big 45" is a soundclash tune in every sense of the word, with a relentless bass that flows from a heavy dancehall swagger to a choppy jungle roller. "Cling To Mi Gun" & "Tribulation" fire up the same formula, echoing the rich history of sound system culture to a new modern pulse. Finally, Brazil's very own Jam Thieves take on "Big 45", giving it their trademark dub/jungle vibe, which has proved massively popular with DJs such as Dub Phizix, DJ Hype, David Rodigan and more.
