The Bank Announce the Release of Their 2nd Album "Europa Center" a Testament to the Band's Raw Funk Roots
The Bank are becoming more and more known for their eclectic mix of funk and Afro disco with a raw live edge. The band's second album "Europa Center" has recently been released clearly influenced by the spirit of their live show and funk background. Dirty and raw, "Europa Center" has The Bank's fans old and new alike saying it may just be their best work yet.
Raw sounds of honest funk, African-influenced bass and drums that could make just about anyone have to get up and dance, and zombies. Yes, zombies. That's what The Bank have offered the world with their second studio album "Europa Center" and this interesting eclectic mix makes perfect sense for music lovers who love to have a good time. Just ask their growing legion of fans.
"While we loved our first album, it was a step away from what we do live," commented Francesco drummer of the band. "Berlin, where we recorded, was a great experience and that not only inspired the themes we've explored on our new album, but also our keeping true to our rugged and raw live show too."
"The King Of Stones" sounds like if the Meters had Tony Allen on Drums while "Strings On Fire" could easily be the soundtrack to the Stuntman Mike Chase scene in Tarantino's Grind House. "San Francisco" is raw, dirty and groovy with the bonus of Jones's vocals that also appear on "Shake It Like A Zombie" . "1989" it's a funky number with a break down that screams to be sampled.
Europa Center captures that live spirit perfectly. All together 8 tracks were recorded as long jams at the Templeton Studio in Berlin and mastered by Mike Marsh, that name himself "the fourth Bank", at the acclaimed London Exchange . In addition to the regular lineup of The Bank, long time friend and tour mate Jeff Jones from the Jeff Jones Band also makes an appearance on vocals.
If you loved the first album but love the band live most of all you should not miss Europa Center.

Layne Fox : nice one. super funky stuff! thanks!
Jarle Bråthen (Full Pupp) Nice ones! Not what I normally listen to. Nice crossover:-)Free keys is really good. Berliner was a nice groove. I really like the pace on 1989.
Briosky :.sono alla seconda ed è una super bomba!molto bene !
Leftside Wobble : Another refreshing selection! good sir. Especially liking 'Shake it like a Zombie' on first listen.
Dimitri From Paris : Hi there, finally got around to listen, Fantastic job you guys did
Richard Rossa : Amazing
Moullinex :Listening as we speak :)Sounding great!! Congrats on the release!
Julian Sanza : Oh My god! Thanks so much, listening right now, full support!
Neil Bopperson (Wah Wah 45s): I've downloaded the Dive Bar track, it's my favourite to be honest
Phil Horneman (22Tracks Funk Amsterdam / Radio6): I’ve listened to The Bank and it sounds very nice. I could drop the track San Francisco on one of my shows.
Bruce Tantum (Resident Advisor/ Redbull Music): Loving these tunes - I think "Shake It Like a Zombie" is my fave! Great raw sound all around
Guy Monod (Sleazy Beats): the album sounds absolutely deadly, top notch stuff
Robin Lee (Faze Action): It's got a very immediate "like" factor. The first track is a very chunky slice of funky with some interesting box parts. Reminds me of Corduroy. next one is the off beat King Of Stones, very mod. It has a sort of running rhythmic drum part that helps give the groove some forward motion. It drops to a sort of funk reggae part with some nice congas. Not much in the way of hooky melody but then again it is more of a mood piece. Shake it Like A Zombie. Very immediate funk bass jam with some vibey vocals. I think the DJs will love getting hold of this. Dive Bar has a stripped out psychedelic vibe with very hooky guitar hooks. Berliner continues the punk/reggae/psychedelic vibe, with a bit of a nod to the 80's post punk.Prinzlaueberg explores the fuzzy guitars and skipping drum patterns further. San Francisco is one of the other vocal tracks on the album. It's got a Motown beat to it that moves into a classic wah way guitar groove. Muted bass guitar kicks off the last track 1989. Fusing Motown with heavy chorus guitars. The whole album is very chunky and shows off the great playing of the band members. It's also a classic 8 track album which in my opinion is a bonus. far too many long 15 track albums that are actually quite boring. This album manages to keep you dancing. Sort of reminds me of the good ole days of 1991, when we were all in acid jazz bands.
Christopher Keys (Another Night on Earth blog): I loved the Bank release on Bear Funk from a few years ago and am a big fan of all things Ambassador's Reception
