Ex-Simian vocalist and one half of Arclight alongside Lukid, Simon Lord has taken a number of forms over the years (including being responsible for vocals on French duo Justice's hit remix of Simian's 'We Are Your Friends', and records for Southern Fried as part of Black Ghosts) and returns here for a cassette release under his Lord Skywave alias on Astro:Dynamics, after releasing music under that alias for the This Is Music label (Charlie XCX, Midland, Egyptrixx, Mujava, Boy 8-Bit), along with collaborations with Nautiluss for Untold's Hemlock Recordings.
The Astro:Dynamics label appeared in Bleep.com's top ten labels of the year list in 2013, after dropping releases by 1991, Best Available Technology, DYNOOO, Lotide, Dave Saved, and Singing Statues in 2013. Other recent press and reviews for the label and artist from Dazed and Confused, FACT Magazine, Dummy, XLR8R, Juno Plus, No Fear of Pop, Subbacultcha and Wire Magazine amonst others.
----------------------------------------------
Cardamon Copy came from a period where multi-instrumentalist Lord was tampering with an old Tascam 4-track cassette recorder, enjoying the texture that the tape added - seemingly condensing and giving rounder edges to the sound. With the arrangements he explored ideas around structure being formed by a number of phrases moving in and out of sync with each other - making for a dubbed-out and deconstrcuted sound that fits well within the label's growing penchant for smudged out and gelatinous electronic meditations.
