Following Inner Channel's Culture on Wind EP in late 2024 with the debut Modes EP earlier this year, long-time Diskotopia associate Niikkolahs unearths Trimmed Limbs – a third branch of idiosyncratic warehouse soul rooted in industrial timbres, post-punk structure, and dubwise sensibilities.

While Trimmed Limbs retains traces of textural, melodic sonic threads running through the Niikkolahs and Inner Channel material, there's an immediate and concise tone that sets the A Sense of Wonder EP apart with a certain visceral and elegiac intensity.

Chrysalis opens with searing melodic feedback, propelling percussion, and an undulating, mutating riff inspired by the late, great virtuoso Geordie Walker of Killing Joke. The digital hardcore punk blast of Onyx cleanses and purifies with a holy fire sourced from the legions of The Locust and Japanther. Hydraulics is a distorted Cabaret Voltaire-indebted roller with an undeniably warped funk that rises and converges to ultimately "balance alright."

Destiny Collides takes an almost prog-rock approach – sounding as if Suicide were sharing a smoked-out studio with Blue Öyster Cult in 1978. Faith is a slice of heaving modern industrial with a technoid-dancehall approach that echoes both African Head Charge and Regis.

The submersive, corrugated doom-dub of A Sense of Wonder ultimately refracts washes of industrial-grade synths over textured 909 kicks and aether-sourced congas while stratospheric vocals look back over hidden histories to lament "what could have been has already occurred."
