2025 brings an album of fresh new material from Other Lands (aka Gavin Lyall Sutherland) following his much loved ‘Sounds For Isolated Souls’ on Circles And Phases in 2021 - originally released digitally in 2020 - and the subsequent ‘Archipelagos’ on Athens Of The North in 2022. After a short hiatus during which he naturally never stopped making music, he now shares further audible transcripts of his non verbal conversations with himself.
Simultaneously sounding, as ever, like all and none of the many genres that influence him all at once, each track represents a stage in the leap year in which it was formed. Going through each month, experiencing everything from keen optimism and joy to existential angst and sorrow, the pieces move back and forth between cozy ambience, relaxed beat driven miniatures, and exercises in sound therapy. Always informed by the accidental, as with previous outings these sounds - performed largely live with few if any edits - emerge from semi improvised journeys into the unconscious, exploring what happens when thought is turned down, leaving more room for feeling.
