“Yallah!” (feat. MERVE) is the third single from Psyché’s upcoming new album. Following the recently released "Sabir" and "Hurriya (We Must Resist)," the band delivers yet another evocative sonic bridge between the Arab world and the West, delving even deeper into the nature of their native Naples as a vibrant crossroads of influence and creativity.
"Yallah!" is a clever unmasking of betrayal and duplicity set to the pace of an exotic dance drenched in psychedelia, funk, and Anatolian tradition. It opens with a riff suspended between prog and exoticism, developed by Marcello Giannini using a specialized slide technique to replicate traditional Turkish scales on electric guitar. The track initially moves with a hypnotic, fluid grace—much like a snake in motion—as the magnetic timbre of Merve Daşdemir (formerly of Altın Gün) articulates a blistering confrontation between substance and surface. Then, two minutes in, it suddenly pivots when Andrea De Fazio’s drums deliver an unexpected 'sonic punch'—an explosion of Arab techno-rock that redefines the song’s equilibrium with pulsing bass and a 'four-on-the-floor' beat.
As the track eventually returns to its hypnotic, serpentine groove, the raw impact of that musical 'punch' stays with us: 'az laf çok iş' (less talk, more action), sings Merve throughout, and we can no longer ignore the essential power of action over words.
"Yallah!" is out on all digital platforms starting from February 20th.
