Cover version of Jean-Luc Ponty's legendary track "In the Fast Lane", commisioned as part of an official 12" reissue of the original track. The original track is widely recognised as a proto-techno inspiration, particularly in Detroit. It was also an anthem in the UK Jazz dance scene spearheaded by DJs like Gilles Peterson.
Opolopo's version realises the modern dancefloor potential of Ponty's riffs and grooves, faithfully recreating them over a groove-heavy house beat. The dub version takes out the synth solo for a deeper take.
