DBA Dubs began as an offshoot of the main DBA label with the aim of giving a platform to UK house producers from both classic and forward looking ends of the spectrum. To coincide with the release of the tenth edition in the DBA Dubs series, the label are also making all ten original tracks available as a digital package, while all ten of the remixes from the series get their own bundle.
The ten iterations of the series take in producers like D-Malice, who’s seminal Gabrielle remix is still a UK funky anthem, Wheelman, the Glasgow based producer who has turned heads with his releases on Studio Barnhus and Huntleys and Palmers, Samrai of Swing Ting fame, and Ikonika who stripped her sound down and gave 2017 one of its standout dancefloor anthems.
The remixes which accompanied each of the ten tracks were commissioned from US and Canada based producers, with the aim of keeping a track between the parallels and differences between the UK and US / Canadian sound over the past five years. From Miami’s Gosub, who remains one of the most elusive producers of his time, to Big Strick, Differ-Ent (DJ Bone) and JTC, the remix package presents an all-star cast throughout.
To accompany each package, Wheelman and Basic Soul Unit have both made mixtapes which will go live on release, with Wheelman mixing up the original tracks while Basic Soul Unit weaves the remixes into a set.
