Track List

24bit/44.1khz [wav/flac/aiff/alac/mp3]

Rare 80s South African disco/boogie boogie track from legendary bass player and composer - the late great Sipho Gumede. Sipho was one of South Africa's most treasured musicians and respected at home and internationally.
This is the first single from an EP of music previously released on vinyl only in the 80s and compiled by Vive La Musique founder Aroop Roy. It is a follow up to the hugely successful 2021 reissue of 'Jika Jika' Sipho's cover of Grandmaster Flash.
"Something to Say" is a blend of South African soul and American boogie/disco influences with catchy English pop vocals and strong melodies. The music was recorded in the same studio as Letta Mbulu, with whom Sipho worked regularly and will appeal to fans of Letta and her husband Caiphus Semenya, in a similar vein to tracks like 'Nomalizo' which has enjoed immense popularity after being reissued.
The original tracks enjoy high levels of production and have been subtly remastered by Atjazz.
Massive support from soulful tastemakers Gilles Peterson, Hunee, Antal, Patrick Forge, Mr Scruff.
