It's a politically-charged, dancefloor-crushing record led by the powerhouse vocal trio of Piya Malik, Sabrina Mileo Cunningham, and Nya Gazelle Brown.The A-side, title track 'Cut & Rewind,' is post-punk femme-funk track featuring the group's sweeping harmonies and undeniable funk base/bass line. The song is principally autobiographical but also layered with subtle salutes to songwriting legends.The group recently performed the B-side, 'Disco Life,' live on Jimmy Kimmel. The upbeat, groove-forward track decries the racism and homophobia of Steve Dahl’s 1979 “Disco Demolition Night,” reclaiming the dancefloor as “a playing field where all are free."
